Teresa "Terri" Ginder Richter must like to keep busy, because during her undergraduate career at CSB as well as in her life following graduation, Richter is more than willing to help out.
While at CSB she competed in intercollegiate basketball and softball, played intramural volleyball, and umpired softball and officiated volleyball.
As a four-year player on the Blazer softball team, Terri was named the team's Outstanding Player award recipient following her junior and senior seasons. She was selected by her teammates as their captain for two years.
Richter was also a member of the CSB basketball team for three years, and again was a team leader in the junior varsity program.
"It was very exciting to watch the intercollegiate athletic program grow at Saint Ben's," said Richter. "We started out with basketball, softball and volleyball. We played and practiced in the Old Gym before we finally moved to the Rat Hall at SJU."
Richter and fellow Hall of Fame inductee, Kathleen Robinson McClellan, were instrumental in moving the softball program from a club sport to an intercollegiate level. Richter served on the committee that selected the Blazer nickname and logo. She was also a member of the first class to earn a coaching certificate in 1977.
Since graduation from CSB with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education, Terri has worked as an accountant for Honeymead Products for eight years and raises her three children. As of 1992, She belonged to the National Association of Accountants, volunteered at her children's school and church, and assisted in coaching youth basketball and volleyball with the YMCA program in Mankato, Minn.
Richter also has remained physically active herself, playing racquetball and softball as well as having just completed her advanced scuba diving certification. Shortly after moving to Mankato, the Richter's began hosting "send off" gatherings for new students from the area attending CSB and SJU.
Terri and her husband Bob (SJU 1977) have three children: Nichole, Bob Jr., and Kristin. The family resides in Mankato, Minn.
