Eating Concerns

The College of Saint Benedict Athletic Department supports the overall health and well-being of all our student-athletes, including those navigating eating concerns. The following resources have been compiled to assist students in recognizing, navigating and seeking assistance with disordered eating.

HOW TO GET HELP
  • Call the NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association) helpline. Available via phone and text message at (800) 931-2237 Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET
  • Talk to a counselor from CSB/SJU Health Services and Health Promotions. Individual appointments can be made by calling 320-363-3236 and walk-in Wednesday's offer 20 minute appointments with a mental health clinician from CSB/SJU counseling on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Talk to your family physician.
  • Call a program for eating disorders (refer to the options below) to request an evaluation.  
TREATMENT AND SUPPORT PROVIDERS IN THE AREA
  • CentraCare Eating Disorder Clinic - Provides outpatient specialty care for individuals struggling with Eating Disorders. To schedule an appointment, call (320)229-4918.
  • The Emily Program – Outpatient treatment program that provides comprehensive psychological, nutritional and medical care for individuals with eating disorders. Program incorporates group therapy, individual therapy, eating disorder groups, nutritional education and counseling, and family therapy. Located in Minneapolis/St. Paul and Duluth  888-364-5977 
  • Melrose Center – Nationally recognized comprehensive program in treating anorexia and bulimia; affiliated with University of Minnesota physicians. Team approach including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, registered nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and dietitians. In-patient treatment, intensive day or partial inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, residential care, and support groups for patients and families. 952-993-6200  
  • Water’s Edge Counseling & Healing Center – Christian-based counseling and intensive outpatient programs for eating disorders. Located in Burnsville.
  • Sanford Eating Disorders and Weight Management Center - Provides partial hospitalization and inpatient specialty care for individuals struggling with eating Disorders. Fargo, ND
