There has never been a more accomplished tennis player at CSB than Marcy Erickson Johnson.

During each of her four years (1985-89) as a competitor, Marcy received the Most Valuable Player award for the tennis program. As a first-year player, she was named NCAA Division III National Tennis Rookie of the Year by the intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Association.

This three-time MIAC All-American won three MIAC Conference Championships and earned the MIAC Chris Evert Sportsmanship Award. She was also named CSB's Athlete of the Year for the 1987 and 1988 seasons and CSB Scholar Athlete of the Year for 1987, 1988 and 1989.

As both a junior and senior, Marcy was named team captain, All-Academic MIAC, GTE/CoSIDA College Division Women's At-Large First Team Academic All-America and "Academic All-America of the year," ITCA/Volvo Academic All-American, and Collegiate Scholastic All-American. Marcy also received the college's Presidential Award in 1989. She was coached by Randy Anderson during her four years at CSB.

"Many coaches and teachers influenced my by teaching me to be intense, set goals, think, push myself and to act and behave with class and character," said Johnson.

Marcy was successful in the classroom as well as on the tennis court. She was a member of the dean's list every semester and received academic scholarships each year attending CSB. Marcy was a recipient of the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce Tri-College Recognition Award and graduated Egregia (4.0 G.P.A.) with a bachelors of arts degree in liberal studies.

After graduating from CSB, Johnson returned closer north to her Hibbing High School roots and attended U of M-Duluth (1989-90) for a secondary education teaching license and a coaching certificate. She taught high school math at Hibbing from 1991-1993 and served as assistant boys and girls varsity tennis coach.

In 1991, Marcy received her Minnesota Real Estate License and as of 1996 was selling real estate in Hibbing, Minn. Marcy and her husband Wayne have two daughters; Briana and Megan. The family resides in Hibbing, Minn.
