To say that Amy Hagen is the best volleyball player to don a CSB uniform and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone that would disagree. Is she the best CSB athlete ever to compete here in any sport? Some would say yes! However, two points cannot be disputed; Amy is CSB's only three-time All-American, and no one has ever hit a volleyball harder, past or present.

Until 1998, Amy was the Blazers' all-time kill leader with 1,679, but there was more to her game than power. Amy could also serve and pass as the record book indicates. As of 2000 she was the Blazers career record holder in ace serves (195), and digs (1,276).

Amy graduated from the College of Saint Benedict in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in dietetics and Cum Laude honors. She received her high school degree from St. Cloud Cathedral.

More than once the Blazers hopped on Amy's shoulders during her four years as she carried them to an overall record of 124-23. But more impressive was the team's conference success during her reign, only five losses in four years, and three MIAC titles. Amy was a four-time All-MIAC performer.

Athletic records aside, Amy was equally exceptional in the classroom, earning a 3.7 grade-point average in one of the school's most demanding areas of study. As of 2000, she was a registered/licensed dietitian and has established a hardwood flooring business.

Some of Amy's recollections of playing sports at CSB are the unity, determination, and commitment both athletes and coaches exhibited. Other highlights include the NCAA Final Four Tournament appearance in 1990 and the support of the fans when Saint Ben's was selected to host the regional tournament.

Amy lived with her husband Randy in Becker, Minn.
