A 1997 graduate from the College of Saint Benedict, Katie Macy Schwarz made a name for herself as an All-American diver.
Macy Schwarz participated in diving four years at Saint Benedict and her passion for the sport led her to many athletic honors.
She was a three-time All-MIAC selection in 1995, 1996 and 1997. During those seasons Macy Schwarz also was the conference champion in the three-meter diving event.
Macy Schwarz earned All-American honors in the one and three-meter diving events in 1996 and 1997. She currently holds school records in the one- and three-meter events.
Former head coach of the Saint Benedict swimming and diving team Mike Ritchie said Macy Schwarz was a stand-out student athlete during her time at CSB and was honored to coach her.
“Katherine was the best all-around athlete I’ve ever coached,” Ritchie said.
Graduating from Saint Benedict with a bachelor’s degree in science, Macy Schwarz obtained a 3.0 GPA and admitted that diving kept her very busy.
“What I was able to achieve while diving at CSB has been one of my greatest accomplishments,” Macy Schwarz said. “One of my fondest memories was at the MIAC championships when my sister won the 1,650 meter freestyle. I was doing the card counting for her. I was so proud of her and her accomplishment.”
After graduation, Macy Schwarz served as the diving coach for Macalester from 1997-2003. She is married to Daniel Schwarz.
Currently, she is a stay-at-home mother of three boys and is also attending Sister Rosalind Schools of Massage.
