From 1972-79 Carol J. Agnes did it all!!
Carol was both a coach and administrator in the Blazer Athletic Program, and also served as a representative to the Minnesota Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW).
"I remember the first athletics banquet in spring of 1979 which celebrated how far the athletic program had come in seven years," Agnes said. 'It also promised a future of continued growth for the CSB athletic program. It was the realization of a personal goal, an ideal, and symbolized the accomplishment of a task and challenge. It was time to move on to new challenges."
Carol was the recreational activities director from 1972-75, and then was officially named athletic director from 1975-79. She coached basketball for four years (1973-77), volleyball for five seasons (1974-78), and was even the diving coach in 1975. During her tenure at CSB, Agnes taught first-aid, folk dancing, all levels of swimming, the outdoor education and camping classes as well as the theory courses for the elementary education department.
Carol's fondest memories of CSB are as long as a five-year old's Christmas list. "I remember the first night our new red uniforms were worn, the day the wood floor was installed over the tiled cement (Club Gym), the special arrangements and funding which allowed talented athletes to attend state and national competitions, the woment who provided leadership, the approval of a three-year-old budget for intercollegiate athletics, but most of all the people are my fondest memories," Agnes said. "It was a long time ago, but nonetheless those seven years are some of the most fulfilling years of my life."
As of 1992, Agnes was an active member on the Land of Lakes Girl Scout Council Property Committee and was also on their outdoor program committee. She was a co-chairperson on the Central Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross Health & Safety Committee, and was the credit fraud coordinator for the department store division of the Dayton Hudson Corporation. Carol was the secretary for the Minnesota Chapter International Association of Credit Card Investigators.
In 1980, Dayton's honored Carol with their VIP Award, and then in 1981 she was given Dayton's Distinguished Service Award. Her name can also be found in the Who's Who of American Women in 1977-78. She is single and resides in St. Cloud, Minn.
