One glance at the CSB softball team record book and the redundancy of Christi Dold Bell's name is astonishing. Christi can be found among most of the all-time leaders in every category, but few people know that in three out of four years playing collegiate softball, Christi never struck out. While many opposing pitchers tried to throw a circular sphere up, down, in, out and at speeds reaching 60-plus miles per hour from 43 feet, Dold only struck out four times in her career.
After graduating from Rocori High School in 1988, Christi decided to attend the College of Saint Benedict. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and sociology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSB.Â
Christi recognizes that many of her friendships that are still going strong today were formed as a result of playing softball.
Christi earned four letters (1988-1992) as a slick-fielding shortstop for the Blazers. Even today, Christi still holds the record for most runs scored in a career (95). As of 2000, she was second in career at bats (381) and third in career hits (127). Christi was CSB's Rookie of the Year in 1988, before earning All-MIAC honors three times. She was recognized as an Academic All-American two times; third-team as a junior and first-team as a senior.
Outside the diamond, Christi was involved in Campus Ministry as a guitar player for weekly masses. While working in Saint Ben's business office she received the CSB Student Employee of the Year and the Minnesota Student Employee of the Year in 1990-91.
Christi lives in Sauk Rapids, Minn., with her husband Mike. As of 2000 she was the Sales Manager at Century 21 First Realty, Inc. in St. Cloud.
