Danielle Guse Schlomann played basketball at CSB during one of the most successful runs of any sport in Blazer history.

With Coach Mike Durbin at the helm, Guse Schlomann served as team captain her senior year (1994-95), capping a career that saw Blazer basketball run to a record of 99-15 over her four years (72-8 in MIAC games). She won two MIAC championships – including a perfect 20-0 record as a sophomore – and played in the NCAA Tournament in all four seasons.

In Guse Schlomann’s sophomore season of 1992-93, the Blazers went to the first Final Four in program history, winning a record 28 games, which included that undefeated mark in conference play to win Blazer basketball’s second MIAC Championship. The MIAC mark was part of a perfect regular season, as they remained undefeated until the championship round of the NCAA Tournament.

The following season she served as captain of the Blazers, earned honorable mention All-MIAC honors and was voted MVP by her teammates.

Then as a senior captain in 1994-95, she led the Blazers back to the top of the MIAC, winning the program’s third title with a 19-1 record in conference play as part of a 27-2 overall record. Again honored as the Team MVP, the MIAC also took notice and named Guse Schlomann the conference’s Most Valuable Player, the first player in program history to claim the award.

The Blazers won at least 22 games in each of her four seasons, and won at least one NCAA Tournament game each year as well, the only such four-year stretch in the illustrious history of Blazer basketball.

After growing up in New Brighton, Minn., she graduated from CSB with a 3.60 GPA as a liberal studies major and as a three-time dean’s list member. She earned her degree in physical therapy from the University of Minnesota in 1997, and has been working as a physical therapist for the last 16 years. She is currently taking her final course and in August will graduate with her doctorate in physical therapy.

Today she resides in Ham Lake, Minn., with her husband Alan, and their three children.
