CSB Track and Field team wins five titles and has 18 top-3 finishes at the Tostrud Classic

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – In its final competition ahead of the MIAC Championships, the College of Saint Benedict track and field team had an outstanding effort by winning five titles, 18 top-three and 32 top-seven performances at the Tostrud Classic, hosted by St. Olaf, on Friday (Feb. 21).

Junior Lauren Berg won the 800-meter title with the eighth-best time in school history, clocking 2:19.89.

Junior Jaylyn Ahlberg won her fourth pole vault title this season by going 3.50M – 11-05.75, which ranks 44th in NCAA DIII. The Bennies claimed three of the top six places in the event as sophomore Lili Raidt was second in a season best 3.05M – 10-00.00 and McKenna Flinn placed sixth in 2.75M – 9-00.25.

St. Ben's won the triple jump as first-year Anna Gries had a personal-best of 10.70M – 35-01.75. Also claiming a title for CSB was first-year Ava Revoir who finished first in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.50, while senior Emerson Knapp was fourth in 1:02.95.

Senior Justus Floren also won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.49, while sophomore Chloe Ostrem was third in 9.91 and sophomore Anya Adelgren was eighth in 10.42.

Lucy Lyngen recorded a career-best in the mile while finishing second in 5:17.05, which ranks 10th all-time indoors at CSB. St. Ben's also had two others in the top eight of the mile with juniors Natalie Zielsdorf taking seventh in 5:27.19, while Mary Kenney was eighth in 5:28.08.

In the weight throw, sophomore Christian Smith finished third with a personal-best throw of 13.98M – 45-10.50, which ranks eighth indoors in school history.

In the 1,000-meter run, CSB had two runners record top-10 programs marks, including sophomore Taylor Radaich, who placed second in 3:03.19 and Kalli Smith, fourth in 3:04.47. Radaich's time ranks seventh all-time while Smith was ninth all-time.

The Bennies also had a two in the top-five in the 3,000-meter run, including sophomore Abby Bufkin who finished second, clocking 11:01.31, while sophomore Julia Babineau finished fifth in 11:10.18.

First-year Erin O'Connor was third in the 600-meter dash with a season-best clocking of 1:46.68, while Joel Makem Ratzinger placed sixth in 1:49.37.

In the 200 meters, Allee Feldman was fifth in 27.55, while Grace Buntrock took eighth in 27.90.  Buntrock also placed fourth in the 60-meter dash in 8.18 with Feldman, seventh, 8.53. In the 800-meters, Natalie Zielsdorf was sixth in 2:29.35, while first-year Karcyn Dose was seventh in 2:29.93 and senior Maranda Thier was eighth in 2:33.06.

The Bennies had a number of standout efforts in the field events, including a second-place finish by sophomore Sabriya Farquharson in the long jump, who had a distance of 5.15M – 16-10.75. Also in the that event, sophomore Samantha Solheid was fifth in 4.97M – 16-03.35; and Anna Gries, seventh, 4.86M – 15-11.5.

Aside from the win by Gries in the triple jump, the Bennies had three others  in the top four of the event, including sophomore Sabriya Farquharson, second at 10.42M – 34-02.25; first-year Maggie McCabe, third in 10-08-33-01.00 with Samantha Solheid, fourth in 10.05M – 32-11.75.

In the shot put, first-year Allison Banse finished second at 11.60M – 38-00.75.

In the high jump, sophomore Samantha Brown was third in 1.50M – 4-11.00 while sophomore Drew Terwedo, first-year Kiera Stommes and sophomore Anna Kemp tied for fourth in 1.45M – 4-09.00.
