Conference Preview -- CSB Swim and Dive set to compete at the MIAC Championships on Feb. 19-22 in Minneapolis

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After a regular season of outstanding efforts in the pool, the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team will compete at the four-day MIAC Swim and Dive Championship in Minneapolis from Feb. 19-22. CSB, which serves as the host with Saint John's, will compete in the championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota, starting Wednesday.

The 2025 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championship will begin on Wednesday night with the finals of the women's 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays. Finals are set to start at 7:30 p.m. 

On Thursday, three-meter diving will be among the events, which also include the 200 IM, 500 freestyle and 50 freestyle. On Friday, the events include the 400IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. On the final day of the championship on Saturday, the one-meter board will be contested with swimming events including the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 1650 freestyle. The 400 free relay will also be held.
 
Sessions
Morning prelim sessions will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, all beginning at 10:30 a.m. (doors open at 9:00 a.m.). The evening championship sessions on those days will all begin at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open on Thursday and Friday at 5:00 p.m. Saturday's mile race will begin roughly 45 minutes after the morning session. The fastest mile heat will begin the Saturday evening session. The aquatic center will be cleared following the mile races, and doors for the evening session will open again at 5:00 p.m.   
 
Ticket Information
 All tickets will be sold and purchased online via HomeTown Ticketing. There will not be cash sales at the venue; however, spectators can purchase tickets using a computer or mobile device at any time, including while at the venue. To purchase tickets at any time, click the MIAC's HomeTown Ticketing site. "All-session" tickets will grant admission to all seven sessions of the Championships. "All-session" tickets will grant admission to all seven sessions of the Championships. Adult passes are $73 and student passes are $31. HomeTown Ticketing fees are included with the all-sessions pass; however, additional convenience and credit card charges will be added at checkout. Children ages five and under do not require a ticket. Those eligible for student tickets include individuals currently enrolled in undergraduate college, high school, middle school, and elementary school. Student ID is required where applicable.
 
Awards Ceremony Info
At the championships, a short awards ceremony will follow each event during the four evening sessions. The top three finishers in each event, including relays, will be named All-MIAC. Individual finishers from fourth to sixth place and the fourth place relay earn All-MIAC honorable mention.

Last Year/Program History
A year ago, CSB finished sixth with 376 points after placing fifth with 361 points in the 2022-23 championships. In 2021-22, CSB was also fifth with 430.5 points which followed four straight sixth place team finishes. The Bennies won the MIAC title in 1997-98 with 787 points and has 17 top-four finishes all-time. In the four days of the championship at the 2023-24 meet , the Bennies totaled 11 top-10 program marks and finished with a pair of All-MIAC honors. Gustavus won the team title with 649.5 points with St. Catherine, second, at 608. As the competition begins Wednesday, CSB has three student-athletes ranked in the top eight of seven individual events. In the five relays, CSB ranks in the top seven in each of those relays.
