Zelen posted a time of 51.35 in the event, just shy of her school-record, season-best mark of 50.79. She also competed in the 50 freestyle earlier in the week, placing 35th with a time of 23.62.

The highlight of the championships came Thursday when Zelen earned All-American honors in the 100 butterfly. She placed second overall with a school-record time of 53.88, marking the highest finish by a College of Saint Benedict swimmer in program history. Zelen became the program's first All-American since Katie Kuhlman, who placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke in 2002.

Zelen also made history alongside her mother, Deanne Siverson Zelen, forming the first mother-daughter All-American tandem in program history. She is the 14th All-American in CSB swimming and diving history.

With the runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly, Zelen recorded 17 team points, which placed CSB in a tie for 29th as a team. At the DIII nationals, the T-29th represents the third best team total in program history with the 17 points sitting fifth best at CSB.

The national meet capped a historic 2025-26 season for Zelen. She set four individual school records and contributed to four record-setting relay teams. Individually, she established program bests in the 100 butterfly (53.88), 50 freestyle (23.07), 100 freestyle (50.79) and 100 IM (59.76), while also ranking second all-time in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.16).

Zelen was part of school-record relay performances in the 200 medley (1:44.45), 200 freestyle (1:35.76), 400 medley (3:51.91) and 400 freestyle (3:31.36), putting a fitting exclamation point on one of the most accomplished seasons in program history.
