CSB Indoor Track and Field wins seven titles at CSB/SJU Quad Friday

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Jaylyn Ahlberg captured her second straight pole vault title and was among the seven individual/relay winning performances by the College of Saint Benedict track and field team at the CSB/SJU Quad, which included the Bennies, St. Cloud State, St. Olaf and Bemidji State.

Following tonight's performance, St. Benedict will next compete at the Meet of the Hearts at Carleton College on Feb. 8.

For the second straight week, Ahlberg captured the pole vault by going 3.38M – 11-01.00, which bettered her mark of a week ago by nearly half a foot (10-06). The mark ranks 54th in NCAA DIII. Also in the vault, first-year McKenna Flinn was third at 2.93M – 9-07.25 and sophomore Lili Raidt was fourth at 2.78M – 9-01.50.

Senior Justus Floren won the 60-meter hurdles in 9.75 and also finished fourth in the 60-meters by clocking 8.17, a mark that just finished out of the program's top 10. In the 60-meter hurdles, CSB captured five of the top eight spots with Anya Adelgren, second in 10.01 and both Chloe Ostrem, fourth in a PR of 10.16 and Maisy Komatsu, sixth in a PR of 10.43.

Junior Lauren Berg captured the 600-meters in 1:38.65, which was short of her carer best of 1:36.28 in 2023. First-year Ava Revoir in second at 1:38.67, a mark that was a PR and ranks fifth in school history. and senior Emerson Knapp, third in 1:43.00. In the race, CSB captured six of the top eight spots.

Junior Brooke Verkinnes led five runners in the top six of the 800-meters by clocking a winning time of 2:28.46.  Junior Natalie Zielsdorf was second in 2:30.61 while first-year Karcyn Dose was third with a PR of 2:36.06.

In the mile run senior Lucy Lyngen won the title in 5:25.47 and led six CSB runners in the top eight of the event. First-year Eileen O'Connor was fourth in 5:30.13.

First-year Maggie McCabe won the triple jump with a PR of 10.35M – 33-11.50.

The Bennies raced five 4x400-meter relays including the top team at 4:13.20 which consisted of Berg, Knapp, K. Smith and Revoir. The third place team of Lyngen, Radaich, Dose and Mariah Brooks clocked 4:28.04.

In the 3,000-meter CSB four of the top eight finishers, including junior Tatum Leibke, who was fifth in 11:54.57.

In the long jump sophomore Sabriya Farquharson was third by going 4.98M – 16-04.25.

First-year Anna Gries was fourth in the 200-meters in 27.82 and placed fourth in the long jump at 4.95M – 16-03.00. Also in the jumps, Samantha Brown was fifth with a PR of 1.45M – 4.09 with first-year Kiera Stommes, sixth, and sophomore Anna Kemp seventh, also at 1.45M – 4-09.

In the 1,000-meter run, sophomore Taylor Radaich had a clocking of 3:08.33 for second with senior Kalli Smith, third in 3:08.89.

First-year Allison Banse placed sixth in the shot put with a PR of 10.95M – 35-11.25 .  Also in the throws, CSB has two in the top seven f the weight throw as sophomore Christian Smith was sixth in 12.80M – 42-00 and senior Lexi Torres was seventh in 11.95M – 39-02.50.
