ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team (3-1-2, 0-0-1 MIAC) is set for two road games this weekend, with a mix of MIAC and nonconference matchups.
The Bennies will first face Hamline (3-3-1, 0-0-1 MIAC) on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn. Then, they'll head to Decorah, Iowa, to take on Luther College (0-5-2) in a nonconference game on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.
CSB has had a solid start to the season with three wins and two ties in their first six games. Their wins include a 3-2 victory over UW-Stevens Point, a 3-1 win against UW-Oshkosh where senior forward
Alli Voss scored a hat trick, and a 1-0 win over Central College. The Bennies also tied Wartburg 1-1 on the road and played to a 0-0 draw with Macalester in their MIAC opener. The Bennies' lone loss came against UW-Eau Claire, 2-0. This season, Voss has been named MIAC Player of the Week, and senior goalkeeper
Annie Waters earned MIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Historically, CSB has been a dominant force, securing 27 winning seasons since 1984. In 2023, the Bennies finished third in the MIAC with a 6-3-2 record and a 9-6-3 overall mark. They have consistently finished in the top four in the MIAC over the past four years, including second-place finishes in 2022 and 2021.

- Alli Voss: The senior forward leads the MIAC with two game-winning goals and ranks 20th in Division III. She is fourth in the MIAC in goals per game (0.83) and points per game (2.00). Voss also ranks fifth in the MIAC with five goals overall.
- Annie Waters: The senior goalkeeper ranks second in the MIAC and 27th in Division III with a .919 save percentage. She has 34 saves this season and is fourth in the MIAC with 5.67 saves per game.
- Emma Young: The senior ranks second in the MIAC with 0.50 assists per game and has recorded three assists, placing her second in the conference.
CSB averages 1.33 goals per game while allowing 1.00 goals. They take 15.8 shots per game, with a .516 shot-on-goal percentage. In addition to Voss' five goals,
Avery Soli has contributed three goals to the offense. Waters has logged 464 minutes in goal with a 0.58 goals-against average.
Hamline Notes:
Under third-year head coach Michael Prunty, Hamline enters with a 3-3-1 overall record and a 0-0-1 mark in the MIAC, coming off a 0-0 tie against Augsburg. The Pipers have averaged 2.0 goals per game and allowed 1.71. They are led by Maya Dempsey, who has four goals and three assists for 11 points.
CSB-Hamline Series:
This will be the 33rd meeting between the two teams. CSB holds a 30-2 record against Hamline. In their most recent matchup on September 16, 2023, CSB recorded a 2-0 win. CSB is 17-0 at home against Hamline and 13-2 on the road with a 30-2 conference mark. In the first matchup the Bennies registered a 7-0 win on Sept. 18, 1991.
Luther Notes:
Luther College (0-5-2) comes into Sunday's matchup following a 3-0 loss to UW-Eau Claire and two ties against St. Scholastica and UW-Whitewater. They are averaging just 0.57 goals per game while allowing 2.29. Sofia Biederman leads their offense with two goals and one assist.
CSB-Luther Series:
As the two teams meets for an 11
th time, CSB owns a 6-2-2 overall edge, including a 4-1 win on Sept. 11, 2022 at Decorah, Iowa. In the first matchup between the schools, CSB took an 8-1 decision on Sept. 22, 1990. On the road, CSB has a 2-0-1 mark with a 4-2-0 record in St. Joseph.
Head Soccer Coach
Steve Kimble, who is in his 16th season, has directed his teams to top-four MIAC finishes on 10 occasions, including a third place finish in 2023 when CSB was 9-6-3 overall with an 6-3-2 mark record in league play. Kimble also serves the College as the Director of Club Sports. Overall, Kimble has a 152-83-33 record at Saint Benedict with a 95-45-15 mark in conference play. CSB has recorded winning seasons in 13 of his 15 years with the program. Kimble has coached three All-Americans, two MIAC Players of the Year, one MIAC Rookie of the Year, 21 All-Region athletes, 36 All-MIAC athletes and 21 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections. Seven times, Kimble has directed CSB to top-3 finishes in the MIAC, including winning championships in 2011 and 2013. Twice he has directed teams to NCAA Tournament berths.
