Waters, Voss and Young leads CSB Soccer to third straight win in 1-0 decision over Central

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team (3-1) is riding high with a three-game home winning streak, capped off by a 1-0 victory over Central College (3-1) on Sunday (Sept. 8). Throughout this successful stretch, several constants have emerged: Alli Voss keeps finding the net, Emma Young continues to deliver key assists, and Annie Waters excels between the posts.

In today's 3-1 win, senior Alli Voss from Edina, Minn., added to her impressive streak by scoring the game's only goal at 53:50. This strike, assisted by fellow senior Emma Young from Lakeville, Minn., marked Young's third assist of the season. Voss now boasts five goals this season, bringing her career total to 25.

At the other end of the field, senior goalkeeper Annie Waters, also from Lakeville, Minn., made several crucial saves to keep Central College scoreless. Waters, who recorded seven saves in the match, has conceded just one goal in the last two games (162:15 of play) and holds a 2-1-0 record for the season. With a .929 save percentage, Waters is currently third in the MIAC and has a career record of 21-9-4, including her seventh career shutout.

"It's always rewarding to secure a home win, especially with back-to-back games," said Waters. "Our team truly shined and helped us achieve victories in both matches this weekend."

CSB head coach Steve Kimble expressed his pride in the team's performance, especially against tough opponents. "I'm incredibly proud of how they battled through two challenging games and came out on top. This team has shown tremendous character," Kimble said.

In total, CSB had 13 shots, with eight in the first half and five in the second, placing eight on target. The Bennies also earned four corner kicks. Central College had a slight edge in shots with 15, seven of which were on goal, and they earned seven corner kicks.

The College of Saint Benedict will next travel to Waverly, Iowa, to take on Wartburg College at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.
