ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – College of Saint Benedict senior forward
Alli Voss certainly plays with determined spirit and drive.
It was never more evident then on Saturday (Sept. 7) when Voss led the College of Saint Benedict soccer team (2-1-0) to a second straight win by recording her first career hat trick in a come-from-behind 3-1 nonconference win over UW-Oshkosh (0-1-2). So far this season, CSB is 2-1 against opponents from the WIAC.
"It felt really good," said Voss, who now has scored four of the six goals by CSB this season and has 24 in her career. "I could not have accomplished this without my teammates. To win, we have to help each other," added Voss, whose hat trick is the first since Roxy Veldman had three goals against Minnesota Morris (10-0 win) on Sept. 21, 2021.
After a scoreless first half, the Titans opened the scoring on unassisted goal by Gabby Born at the 52:30 mark for a 1-0 lead. Then, CSB, led by Voss, responded with the final three goals of the game. Voss had back-to-back unassisted goals at 54:29 and 58:15, which gave CSB a 2-1 lead. Then, Voss took an assist from her roommate
Emma Young for an athletic goal off her right foot for a 3-1 lead at the 64:42 mark. Voss led CSB in shots with six, including six on goal, recording in the three goals.
CSB soccer head coach
Steve Kimble, who earned his 151
st career win, was happy with his team's response after falling behind, 1-0.
"The biggest and most important thing is how you respond after the opponent takes a lead. And, we responded with fire," said Kimble. "I am proud of the resilience and absolute focus of fighting back and then finishing off the game with a lot of energy," added Kimble, whose team will now host Central College (3-0) at 3:30 p.m., on Sunday at the CSB Outdoor Athletic Complex.
