ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Madison Brown made an immediate impact for the College of Saint Benedict track and field team last season as a first year, and two meets into her sophomore season, it’s clear that she’s picking up where she left off.
Brown won a pair of events Saturday afternoon to lead CSB to a team win at its annual alumnae meet at the McNeely Spectrum at SJU. For her big performances, she is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week.
Brown started her day Saturday by winning the 60-meter dash. After running a season-best 8.28 to lead the field in the prelims, she followed that up by shaving a few hundredths of a second off her time, winning the event in 8.21 seconds.
Following her win in the 60, Brown took first in the 200-meter dash in her first time competing in the event this season. She finished the race in 27.62 seconds – which matches her career personal best from last season. That time is also just over a second away from being one of the top-10 best 200 times in school history.
After Saturday’s meet, Brown has the 12
th-best 60-meter dash time in the MIAC and sits at 14
th in the 200. Her career-best 60 time is 8.10 seconds, which is the fourth-best time in CSB indoor track and field history.
Brown and her teammates are back in action and on the road this Friday, Feb. 1, when they head to St. Paul for the Hamster Invite, hosted by Macalester and Hamline.
