With her outstanding performance this past weekend in her hockey games against Northland, Elil Marvin, a senior on the College of Saint Benedict hockey team, is this week’s CSB Athlete of the Week. In its games over the weekend, the CSB hockey team swept Northland by scores of 7-4 and 7-1.
Â
Marvin had four goals and two assists to help contribute to CSB’s wins. As a part of the four goals, Marvin had a hat trick as part of CSB’s 7-4 win Friday. This hat trick was the first of Marvin’s college career and was also the first for any CSB hockey player since at least 2009-10.
Â
On Saturday, Marvin had another goal and added in two assists to win 7-1. So far, Marvin is leading the MIAC with her six total points and four goals for the season. Marvin’s four goals helped contribute to the 14 total goals for the games over the weekend.
Â
Last year, the team didn’t score 14 goals until December 12. These 14 goals are the most CSB has scored in a series since scoring 12 goals in two games against Stevenson (Md.) on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, 2013, with CSB winning 4-2 and 8-4.
Â
In addition, last year Marvin led the team with 11 goals and five assists. Her big weekend this past week puts her in a good position to meet and exceed those numbers this season.
