Justus Floren records All-MIAC performance at the MIAC Heptathlon Friday

Floren finishes 2nd with a career-best & third-best program mark of 4,451 points

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Justus Floren of the College of Saint Benedict track and field earned All-MIAC honors and placed second with a career-best 4,451 points in the heptathlon Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference heptathlon, which concluded on Friday (May 2) at Carleton College. Floren's mark of 4,451 points is the third best in school history and ranks 19th in NCAA DIII.

Jenna Kalevik of Concordia Moorhead won the MIAC heptathlon with 4,489 points or just 38 ahead of Floren. Peyton Selle of Concordia-Moorhead was third with 4,442 points. Sophomore Emily Koch finished  12th with 3,271 points while first-year Maisy Komastu was 13th in 3,251 points. With Floren's All-MIAC performance, CSB will take eight points into the MIAC Championships, which continue on May 9-10 in St. Paul, Minn.  

The competition opened with four events on Thursday including the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meters. On Friday, the heptathlon concluded competition with the long jump, javelin and 800-meters.

Floren, who had her third All-MIAC heptathlon performance in her career at the MIAC Championships, finished top four in all seven events and was top three in the other six, including the top mark in the javelin.

Koch was 12th as she totaled 3,271 points and had two top eight finishes (javelin, 800 meter) in her first-ever MIAC heptathlon.

Komastu's was 13th with 3,251 points in her first-ever MIAC heptathlon. She had a top-10 finish in the 100m hurdles:

  • Shot Put: 8.33m / 27-04.00 (14th) – 421 points

  • Javelin – 20.20m – 66-03 (15th) - 293 points
  • 800m – 2:46.99 (13th) – 495 points
Summary - Justus Floren - At MIAC Multi-Events 
In her career, Floren now has recorded eight All-MIAC or honorable mention All-MIAC performances in either the indoor pentathlon or outdoor heptathlon. Floren recorded three All-MIAC and one All-MIAC honorable mention honor in the indoor pentathlon and has three outdoor All-MIAC and one honorable mention efforts in the heptathlon.

On Feb. 27, 2024 Floren finished second in the pentathlon competition at the MIAC Championships, recording her second-best career mark in the pentathlon with 3,281 points, just off her best total of 3,288 in 2023 for third all-time at CSB. However, Floren's point total was the best by a St. Ben's student-athlete at the indoor MIAC Championship since Jenna Degen had 3,326 points in winning her second MIAC pentathlon title in 2019. Aside from her runner-up finish 2025, she was second with 3,064 points in 2022; third in 2023 with 3,097 points and fourth (honorable mention) in 2024 with 2,963 points.

She won the MIAC heptathlon outdoors in 2023 with 4,409 points (5th all-time at CSB). She finished second in 2025 with a personal-best 4451 points, which is No. 19 in DIII and third-best in program history. In addition, Floren was second at the 2024 MIAC heptathlon with 4,172 points. She also had an All-MIAC honorable mention in the heptathlon with a fifth-place result of 3,981 points in 2022.
