NORTHFIELD - Justus Floren of the College of Saint Benedict track and field is third with 2,675 points after day one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference heptathlon, which opened on Thursday (May 1) at Carleton College.

In the lead of the heptathlon through day one is Jenna Kalevik of Concordia Moorhead with 2,797 points and followed by Peyton Selle of Concordia-Moorhead with 2,698 points while Floren is third, just 23 points from second. First year Maisy Komastu sits 10th with 2,017 points while sophomore Emily Koch is 14th with 1,897 points.

The competition opened with four events today including the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meters. On Friday, the heptathlon will conclude will competition in the long jump, javelin and 800-meters.

Floren, who won the outdoor heptathlon in 2023, turned in strong performances across all four events on day one:
  • 100m Hurdles: 15.31 seconds (3rd) – 801 points
  • High Jump: 1.47m / 4-09.25 (5th) – 588 points
  • Shot Put: 10.42m / 34-02.25 (3rd) – 557 points
  • 200m Dash: 26.79 seconds (3rd) – 729 points
Komastu's highlights:
  • 100m Hurdles: 17.26 (9th) – 567 points
  • High Jump: 1.32m / 4-04 (14th) – 429 points
  • Shot Put: 8.33m / 27-04.00 (14th) – 421 points
  • 200m Dash: 28.50 (13th) – 600 points
Koch's day one results:
  • 100m Hurdles: 17.90 (11th) – 499 points
  • High Jump: 1.35m / 4-05 (12th) – 460 points
  • Shot Put: 7.91m / 25-11.50 (16th) – 394 points
  • 200m Dash: 29.14 (16th) – 544 points
