COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – With a third-place finish in the heptathlon by Justus Floren, the College of Saint Benedict outdoor track and field team captured the CSB/SJU Invitational and Heptathlon, which concluded on Sunday at Clemens Stadium.

In total, CSB had 216 team points as the Bennies won nine titles, had a pair of top-10 program marks, recorded 23 top-three finishes and 41 in top-eight results. DII St. Cloud State was second with 117 points with Bethel, third, 97.50 and Gustavus Adolphus, 73.50.

With seven events of the heptathlon concluded, Floren of CSB was third with  3,733 points. Bryn London of DII Minnesota-Duluth won the heptathlon with 3,910 with Sarah Beth Hobby of Macalester finishing second with 3,805 points. Floren was second in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.36) for 671 points. She was second in the 200-meters (28.77) for 571 points. Floren was third in the high jump (1.47m – 4-09.75) for 621 points and second in the shot put (10.04m – 32-11.25) for 532 points. In the long jump, she was second (4.86m – 15-11.05) with 522 points. Floren was second in the javelin (31-53m – 103.50) for 506 points and third in the 800-meter (3:02.42) for 343 points.

Recap of Saturday - Ahlberg, Berg set meet records

Sophomore Jaylyn Ahlberg set a meet record in winning the pole vault by going 3.63m – 11-10.75 and matching her outdoor best, which ranks third all-time in program history outdoors. First-year Ming Li Raidt was third at 3.33m – 10-11.00 with junior Sabrina Buffetta was sixth in 2.73m – 8-11.50.

Senior Ellie Selisker, who finished third in the high jump at 1.50m – 4-11.00, won pair of field events, including long jump in 5.33m – 17-06.00, which is a personal-best and ranks eighth in program-history. She was first in the triple jump with a personal-best of 10.72m – 35-02.00.
In the 10,000-meters, senior Annie Kiolbasa won the competition in 38:29.54 with two others in the top-eight including senior Bridget Tetmeyer, third in 39:01.32 and sophomore Rachel Olinger, seventh in 45:22.72.

Junior Kalli Smith captured the title in the 1,500-meter run by clocking 5:02.37. CSB also had a title from senior Sidela Nyuga with a time of 1:00.24 in the 400-meters.

Sophomore Lauren Berg set a meet record in the 400-meter hurdles with a clocking of 1:06.24. The Bennies had five in the top-eight of the event, including Anya Adelgren, fourth, 1:11.46; Samantha Richardson, sixth, 1:16.10; first-year Chloe Ostrem, seventh, 1:16.69; and Emma Schuele, eighth, 1:21.56.

Ella Young won the 800-meters in 2:24.86 and led three in the top-eight. First-year Taylor Radaich was third in 2:26.68 while senior Lucy Lyngen, seventh, 2:31.73 to round out the other top CSB placers in the 800-meters.

In the 200-meter dash, senior Tiana Johnson won the event in 26.20. The Bennies also placed three in the top-eight of the 100-meter dash, led by senior Kate Gallagher, who clocked 12.61. Senior Tiana Johnson was third at 12.70 with sophomore Myah Nelson, eighth, in 13.28.

CSB had four teams place in the top seven of the 4x400-meter relay, including the winning squad of Nyuga, Emerson Knapp, Mirijana Ganley and Berg with clocking of 4:10.93. Finishing third was a team of Kalli Smith, Anabella Witschen, Radaich and Young in 4:13.20.
