CSB Track and Field wins four titles and totals 17 top-five finishes at Hamline Invitational

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The College of Saint Benedict track and field team turned in a strong, well-rounded performance Monday at the Hamline Invitational at Klas Field, piling up four event titles and 17 top-five finishes against a mix of mostly  Division III competition.

Leading the way was senior Jaylyn Ahlberg (Shoreview, Minn.), who captured one of the day's four titles by winning the pole vault with a season-best clearance of 3.35m (10-11.75). Teammate Lili Raidt (Waconia, Minn.) matched that height to take second, while McKenna Flinn (Redwood Valley, Minn.) added a fourth-place finish at 3.20m (10-6), giving the Bennies three of the top four spots.

Another victory came in the triple jump, where Sabriya Farquharson (Nassau, Bahamas) led a strong showing with a winning leap of 11.01m (36-1.50). Anna Gries (Minneapolis, Minn.) followed in second at 10.44m (34-3), and Hannah Scharnberg (Fergus Falls, Minn.) placed fourth at 10.09m (33-1.25). Farquharson also contributed in the long jump, finishing seventh at 4.90m (16-1).

On the track, Mary Kenney (St. Paul, Minn.) delivered a dominant performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, winning in a season-best 11:23.42 to headline a race where CSB claimed six of the top seven places. Anabella Witschen (Monticello, Minn.) recorded a personal-best 11:44.90 to finish third, followed by Julia Babineau (Andover, Minn.) in fourth (12:10.42) and Bailey Link (Brush, Colo.) in fifth (13:15.85).

Kiera Stommes (Eden Valley, Minn.) secured the fourth title for the Bennies, clearing a season-best 1.53m (5-0.25) to win the high jump. Drea Terwedo (LeSueur, Minn.) added a third-place finish at 1.50m (4-11).

CSB continued to stack top finishes in the field events, including Parker Pollis (Richfield, Minn.) who led the group with a second-place finish in the javelin throw, while Emily Koch (Otsego, Minn.) was third at 29.06m (95-4) and Katherine Hubers (Northfield, Minn.) placed seventh at 25.18m (82-7).

In the throws, Allison Banse (Mankato, Minn.) recorded a pair of fifth-place finishes with season-best marks in both the discus (35.24m / 115-7) and shot put (12.06m / 39-6.75). Quinn Paulsen (Waconia, Minn.) added a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a career-best 10.92m (35-10).

On the track, the Bennies picked up several strong finishes. The 4x100-meter relay team of Grace Buntrock (Rochester, Minn.), Gries, Myah Nelson (Brainerd, Minn.) and Bella Lund (Mound, Minn.) placed second with a season-best time of 50.03.

Individually, Lauren Berg (Bemidji, Minn.) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.04), while Taylor Dean (Hutchinson, Minn.) posted a personal-best 2:24.00 to take fourth in the 800 meters.

Taylor Radaich (Prior Lake, Minn.) added another fourth-place finish with a personal-best 4:49.58 in the 1,500 meters, and Daphne Grobstein (Golden Valley, Minn.) placed seventh in her debut at the distance (4:57.10).

Additional top-10 efforts included Morgan Hanlin (Red Wing, Minn.), who placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best 16.49, and Lund, who clocked a season-best 26.73 to finish eighth in the 200 meters.
