Chea and Lund Selected as Track & Field Candidates for CSB Rookie of the Year

06/29/2026

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict athletic department celebrated the accomplishments of the 2025-26 athletic year in May with its annual student-athlete celebration. Twelve Bennies were announced as finalists for the annual CSB Rookie of the Year award, presented to the top newcomer of the season in each sport.

First-year jumper/hurdler Juslene Chea (St. Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) was named the finalist for the indoor season while junior sprinter Bella Lund (Mound, Minn./Mound Westonka) was the outdoor finalist.

Chea had a banner indoor season, racing to All-Region honors and a school record in the 60-meter hurdles, a record she broke twice so far. She was the MIAC runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles (8.45) at the conference meet and All-MIAC honorable mention in the triple jump (sixth, 10.75 meters). She accumulated nine event wins across six indoor meets and was named the department's Athlete of the Week on Jan. 30. She finished indoor with two school records – a 9.11 in the 60-meter hurdles and an 8.34 in the 55-meter hurdles.

She was also All-MIAC honorable mention in the 100-meter hurdles (15.12) during the outdoor season and finished seventh in both the long jump (5.45 meters) and triple jump (11.28 meters).

Lund was All-MIAC honorable mention in the 100-meters in her first season running for the Bennies. She finished fourth at the MIAC Outdoor Championships with a school-record 12.17. She was also eighth in the 200-meters (26.07) and helped the 4x100-meter relay finish seventh (49.54).

An accounting major with a 4.0 GPA, Lund was also named CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-MIAC earlier this month. She took eighth in the 55-meter dash (7.41) and was a part of the eighth-place 4x200-meter relay team (1:49.94) at the MIAC Indoor Championships.

The CSB track & field team finished fifth out of 12 teams at both the 2026 MIAC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Senior hurdler Lauren Berg (Bemidji, Minn.) became CSB's first NCAA qualifier since Jaylyn Ahlberg (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) and Fiona Smith in 2024. She earned All-America second team honors in the 400-meter hurdles.
