DULUTH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team (3-4, 1-0 MIAC) will return to MIAC conference play against the College of St. Scholastica (8-6, 3-2 MIAC) at 1 p.m., in Duluth, Minn., on Saturday, March 23.
 
The Bennies went 2-3 on the spring break trip after opening the season with a 6-1 loss to NCAA DII SCSU in the opener and a 9-0 MIAC win over Hamline. During the spring break trip, CSB defeated both Allegheny College and Ursinus College by scores of 8-1. Both of these matches were played at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
 
Up Next - CSB will host St. Catherine University on April 6 at the Chang Tennis Complex on the campus of St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn.
 
In the Fall, CSB competed at the ITA Regional/Midwest Invite
In the fall, CSB competed at the ITA Regional/Midwest Invite that was hosted on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In singles play, junior Ashley Tarrolly led the way. Tarrolly was the No. 2 seed in the and was given a first-round bye. Throughout the two-day invitational, she defeated Dorothy Dean in two sets (6-1, 6-1) of Loras College (IA). Tarrolly went on to the championship round where she fell to 19th ranked Lauren Douglas of Bethel University. In the Midwest Invite Consolation Class A singles, senior Peyton Kopel had two wins. She defeated Cassie Henderson of Edgewood, 8-2; and Nichole Henning of Grinnell, 8-5 before dropping an 8-2 decision to Emma Thole of Bethel. First-year Kate Perbix also won a pair of matches Midwest Invite Consolation Class B singles. She defeated Bella Tranquilino of Simpson, 8-2, and Hailey Toole of UW-Eau Claire, 8-0, before falling to Ashley Adkisson of UW-Whitewater, 8-2.In doubles play, CSB was led by Tarrolly and Sophia Jonas who were ranked No. 16th, the pair lost their second round match to No. 7 Sofia Sacket and Natalia Smith of Luther, 8-6. 

Season/Career Player Notes
Ashley Tarrolly of St. Cloud, Minn., who is 3-1 at No. 1 singles and 2-2 at No. 1 doubles this season, was All-MIAC and named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators. She was regionally ranked No. 6 in singles in NCAA DIII Region VII. Until a loss in the playoffs, she had eight straight victories, finishing 9-3 overall with a 7-2 mark in league play. Tarrolly, an economics major, had six straight set wins and was 3-1 in a tiebreaker. In doubles, she was 7-6 overall with a 4-5 record in league play, including 6-6 with Kopel. Tarrolly has a 19-6 record in her career in singles.

Peyton Kopel is 1-6 in singles this year with an 0-3 mark at No. 1 and 1-3 at No. 2. She is 2-4 in doubles. In 2022-23, Kopel was named to the All-MIAC doubles team after putting together a 7-10 record, including 2-3 at No. 1 and 5-6 at No. 2 singles. In doubles, she was 6-6 overall with a 4-5 record with Tarrolly at No. 1. In her career, she is now 26-30 in singles with a 21-29 doubles record.

Greta Nesbit, a junior mathematics major from Le Sueur, Minn., has 3-3 singles, including 2-2 at No. 3. She has a 3-4 doubles mark. A year ago, she had a 9-8 overall record, including 7-3 in MIAC play as she earned All-MIAC. In 2022-23, she was 2-3 at No. 2 singles with a 7-5 mark at No. 3. In her career she is now 22-16 in singles and 17-16 in doubles. 

Jane Bodensteiner, an accounting major from Palatine, Ill., is 3-4 in singles this season, playing at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. In doubles, she is 4-2, playing at all three spots at various times. She was 10-6 a year ago, including 6-4 in the MIAC. She was 7-5 at No. 4 singles and finished the year with a 5-5 mark. In doubles, Bodensteiner finished 12-3 with a 7-2 mark in league play, including 8-1 at No. 3 and 4-2 and No. 2. Overall, in her career, she has a 28-22 record in singles. In doubles she has a 31-18 overall mark. In singles in her career, she is 19-13 in the MIAC and is 15-13 in the MIAC in doubles.
 
Sophia Jonas, who is 3-2 at No. 4 singles and 4-2 in No. 1 doubles this season. She is 12-13 in singles and 15-16 in doubles in her two years at CSB. 

Brooke Beier, a sophomore from Foley, Minn., is 3-3 in singles in 2023-24 and sits 5-5 in her career. She is 2-1 in doubles play. Kira Young, a sophomore from Hudson, Wis., was 2-0 in doubles a year ago.

First-year Ryanna Steinhaus of Litchfield, Minn., is 1-3 in singles and 0-1 in doubles play. First-year Kate Perbix is 2-3 in doubles play this year.
