Cecelia Miller of the College of Saint Benedict have been named to the MIAC All-Playoff Team, according to an announcement by the league office.
Miller and Golenzer helped lead the Bennies to a 12-5-2 overall record and the number two seed in the MIAC playoffs. CSB was 8-2-1 league play and had a 7-0-1 overall home record.
All MIAC sports with conference playoff tournaments (soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, baseball, and softball) will feature All-Playoff Teams in 2022-23, with the awards being voted on by the head coaches of the qualifying teams. The top vote-getter from each sport will be named the Playoff's Most Valuable Player. A total of 11 student-athletes, including Miller and Golenzer from St. Ben's, were named to the team.
In the MIAC semifinals, Golenzer had an assist and Miller scored a goal in a 1-1 tie which resulted in a shootout won, 3-2, by St. Catherine, which advanced and won the MIAC Tournament Championship.
In 19 matches this season, Golenzer of Eden Prairie, Minn., played 1,176 minutes with three goals and an assist for seven points. A forward, she had 33 shots, which included 20 on goals. This season, she registered one game winning goal. An exercise science and health sciences major, Golenzer scored goals against Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Sept. 10, Bethel (Minn.) on Oct. 12 and Hamline on Oct. 15. In her career, she has scored seven goals with two assists for 16 points with 53 shots including 30 on goal.
Miller of St. Michael, Minn., had six starts in 18 matches this year with 755 minutes played. A standout on defense, Miller totaled three goals and six points with 13 shots including eight on goal. An elementary education major, the senior scored goals in three of the final matches of the season including a 3-1 win over Macalester on Oct. 22, a goal in a 2-2 tie against Carleton on Oct. 29 and the goal in the MIAC semifinals against St. Catherine. She finished her career with three goals and three assists for nine points. In her career she had 26 shots with 12 on goal.
