ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team (6-11-0, 4-6-0 MIAC) will close the regular season by traveling to face Hamline (3-8-7, 1-7-2 MIAC) in MIAC play on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 3:30 p.m. at Pat Paterson Field in St. Paul, Minn.
For Saint Benedict, the postseason picture is still in reach. Sitting eighth in the MIAC standings with 12 points, the Bennies are part of a tight four-team race for the final two playoff spots. Macalester (4-4-2 MIAC) and Saint Mary's (4-4-2 MIAC) currently hold 14 points, while Gustavus Adolphus (4-5-1 MIAC) sits just ahead with 13. Each conference win is worth three points, meaning Saturday's results across the league could determine who plays on in November. While CSB visits Hamline, Macalester faces Bethel, and Saint Mary's takes on Gustavus.
Saint Benedict heads into the weekend with momentum after a dramatic 1-0 Senior Day victory over Concordia-Moorhead on Oct. 25. Senior forward
Addison Stephani delivered the game-winner in the 83rd minute, with
Summer Seamans providing the assist. The win marked CSB's fourth at home this season and kept the team's playoff hopes alive.
Before that, the Bennies fell 5-1 at Saint Mary's on Oct. 18, though first-year forward
Olivia Smith notched her first career goal on a penalty kick in the 71st minute.
This season, Saint Benedict has netted 21 goals in 17 matches (1.24 per game) while allowing 1.88. The Bennies average 13.1 shots per contest compared to 18.5 from their opponents. Goalkeepers
Claire McGrath (2.34 GAA, .763 save pct.) and
Rhianna Anya (1.45 GAA, .863 save pct.) have combined for 121 saves.
Offensively, Stephani leads the team and ranks among the MIAC's best with seven goals and 15 points (ninth in goals, 11th in points). Soli follows with five goals and 12 points, ranking 15th in conference scoring.
