Menomonie, Wis. - Closing out its stretch of road contests, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team remained perfect on the season with a 1-nil win at University of Wisconsin-Stout Saturday night, Sept. 12. The victory pushes the Bennies' record to 4-0 on the season, while UW-Stout drops to 2-1-1. Â

Veronica Warren (North Oaks, Minn./Mounds View) sent a pass to first-year
Eva Gower (Plymouth, Minn./Orono), who shook off her defender for an open look at the net. From deep, Gower booted a ball into the back left corner of the net to put the Bennies in front late in the contest, 1-nil.Â

The defensive battle saw Saint Ben's hold a 11-6 advantage in shots, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. The Blue Devils finished with the lead in saves (3-1) and corner kicks (3-1). Â

Sophomomore Anna Mollenhauer (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna), the reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made the lone save for the Bennies in the final 45 minutes of action, as her and senior
Rhianna Anya (Bloomington, Minn./Thomas Jefferson Sr.) helped CSB secure its second consecutive shutout.Â

Sophomore Tatum Janezich (Rogers, Minn./Providence Academy) got the first glance at scoring, but the Blue Devils came up with a save on her attempt in the 52nd minute. Â

Senior Avery Soli (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine) tried to put one past the UWS keeper in the 63rd minute, but once again the Bennies scoring attack was thwarted.Â

Marching down the pitch, the Blue Devils sought their first scoring opportunity of the night, but a save by Mollenhauer in the 68th minute pushed momentum back towards the Bennies. Â

Gower's goal helped CSB close out a stretch of three consecutive road games, all of which the Bennies walked away victoriously. Â

Saint Ben's finally returns home to host University of Minnesota Morris Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.Â
