MINNEAPOLIS – Sophomore
Mary Morris registered an All-MIAC performance in finishing second in the 200 freestyle to highlight the performances of the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team on day three of the MIAC Championship at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota on Friday, Feb. 21.
Morris clocked 1:55.46 in finishing second, which was the highest placing by a CSB student-athlete so far at the championships. The time by Morris ranks fifth all-time and was one of three-top 10 marks by CSB swim and dive team members. With her second place finish, CSB sits sixth in the team standings with 221 points.
Gustavus leads the team standings at the MIAC Championship with 460 points, followed by Macalester with 428 points and St. Olaf is third with 370.5. In fourth place at the championship is Carleton, 321.5; St. Catherine, fifth, 288; Saint Benedict, 6
th, 221 points; Concordia, seventh, 129 points and Hamline, eighth, 121 points. The competition continues on Saturday with morning prelim sessions set for 10:30 a.m. (doors open at 9:00 a.m.). The evening championship sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m.
CSB had four top-seven finishes at the championships, including in the 400 IM in which sophomore
Claire Canfield finished fifth and recorded the eighth-best time in school history with a clocking of 4:42.73. Also in the same race, sophomore
Jayda Alholm was 16
th with a season-best 5:02.11.
Junior
Rachel Schlueter, who had an all-MIAC performance last night in the 50 free, followed up with a seventh-place finish in the 100 backstroke by clocking 59.21 in the finals. In the prelims, she registered the third best time in school history with a time of 57.92.
CSB's 200 freestyle relay placed fifth by swimming a season-best clocking 0f 1:39.66 with a squad of Alholm, Morris,
Liz Hansen and Schlueter.
In the 100 breaststroke, junior

th in a season-best 1:09.48.
