CSB Swim and Dive Team sits sixth after day one of the MIAC Championship

MINNEAPOLIS – By placing sixth in both the 200 medley relay and 800-free relay, the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team sits in sixth place (52 points) at the MIAC Championships as day 1 concluded at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota.

In the 200 medley relay, the Bennies clocked a season best time of 1:48.25 with a team of junior Rachel Schlueter, junior Megan Bartels, sophomore Claire Canfield and sophomore Mary Morris. The clocking by this CSB relay ranks fourth all-time in school history and just .14 from third (2014, Roberts, Tormanen, Peterson, Bierman, 1:48.11).

The CSB 800-free relay of sophomore Jayda Alholm, first year Alivia Kortuem, first year Ava Niksich and junior Morgan Stout also placed sixth with a clocking of 8:15.40.

Gustavus and Macalester lead the MIAC team race with 74 points. After those two teams, St. Olaf is third at 62; St. Catherine, fourth, 60; Carleton, 5th, 58; and St. Ben's, sixth, 52. In a tie for seventh place is Concordia and Hamline with 46 points.

On Thursday, three-meter diving will be among the events, which also include the 200 IM, 500 freestyle and 50 freestyle. Morning prelim sessions will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, all beginning at 10:30 a.m. (doors open at 9:00 a.m.). The evening championship sessions on those days will all begin at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open on Thursday and Friday at 5:00 p.m.
