ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sophomore defender
Jenna Timm of the College of Saint Benedict Hockey Team (8-6, 6-3 MIAC) delivered the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Bennies a dramatic 4-3 road win over Hamline (7-8-1, 6-2-1 MIAC) on Friday night.
In Saint Ben's second overtime win of the season, Timm recorded her eighth career goal and her first game-winner. With the victory, CSB moved to within a half-game of third place Hamline at 6-2-1. The two teams will play the second of the home-and-home series at the Ritsche Arena at the MAC in St. Cloud at 4 p.m., on Saturday (Jan. 21).
CSB rallied from a 1-0 deficit with two goals in the first period for the lead, 2-1. The Bennies led, 3-2, after two periods but Hamline's late goal in the third period forced overtime. That is when Timm stepped up with a clutch play as the Bennies ended a two-game losing streak.

Scoring Breakdown -
Hamline opened the scoring on an even-handed goal from Payton Luff at11:33 on assists from Ashley Grabau and Elizabeth Valley. Then, CSB quickly answered as junior
Corrine Brown tied the match on an even-handed goal off an assist from
Abby Nelson at 12:58. Brown had her fifth goal of the season and Nelson her second assist. At the 16:53 mark, sophomore
Emma Rooks found the back of the net for her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
Rylee Tanner and Timm assisted on the goal. Timm had her third assist of the season while Tanner scored her first point of her career.
In that opening period, CSB owned an 11-to-4 shots edge and neither team committed a penalty. CSB was 9-of-17 in faceoffs.
Early in the second period, the Pipers tied the game at 2-2 as Morgan Wohlers scored an even-handed goal at 5:27 off assists from Nikki Olund and Haley Eder-Zdechlik. However, CSB's
Presley Kraemer scored an even-handed goal for the second straight match at 14:45 on
Mia Lopez's assist. For Lopez, it was her fourth assist of the season while Kraemer converted her third goal of 2022-23.
For most of the third period, the defenses on both teams controlled action. With 1:09 to play in the third period, Wohlers had her second goal to tie the match as the Pipers scored on a power play, utilizing an extra attacker. Hamline's Sydney Lemke and Eder-Zdechlik assisted on the play.
In overtime, Timm produced the game-winner on an even-handed goal with Brown and
Aurora Opsahl assisting on the play.
By the numbers
For the 11
th time in 14 matches, CSB out-shot its opponents, owning a 31-to-25 edge. The Bennies out-shot the Pipers, 11-4, in the first period and had eight shots in the second and six in the third. Hamline had four shots followed by 10 in each of the last two periods.
Hamline was 1-of-4 on power play opportunities while CSB was 0-of-3.
In face-offs, CSB won 26-of-50 for a 52 percent conversion rate with
Ava Stinnett winning 13-of-22.
In goal, senior
Ally Frantzick again shined as she moved to 7-5-0 on the season. In 63:58 in goal, Frantzick allowed just goals with 22 saves in facing 25 shots including 18 over the final two periods.
