ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Head coach Nick Thibault and the College of Saint Benedict hockey team put together its best season in nearly two decades in 2019-20, and Thibault officially put a bow on the year by announcing the team's year-end award winners recently.

Senior Mollie Wise was named CSB's MVP for 2019-20, and first year Ally Frantzick won Rookie of the Year. First year Lily Aamodt was named Most Improved, and junior McKenna Cavanaugh was named the team's 7th Player.

Wise's MVP honor comes on the heels of being named to the All-MIAC Honorable Mention team earlier this month. The senior had the best year of her four-year career in 2019-20, finishing sixth in the MIAC with a career-high 14 goals. She recorded the first hat trick of her career on Jan. 31 against St. Olaf, and finished second in the MIAC with four game-winning goals. She also had three assists, and ends her four seasons with the team with 29 goals and 13 assists.

Frantzick – who also earned an All-MIAC Honorable Mention nod – finished her first season in the net with five wins and 403 saves in 12 games played. Frantzick, who recorded a career-best 40 saves against Augsburg, finished seventh in the MIAC with a .926 save percentage – just shy of the school record.

Aamodt played in 23 of the team's 24 games as a first year, and the defender finished her season with a trio of assists. The first assist of her collegiate career came on Nov. 26 against St. Olaf, and she also notched an assist on the game-tying goal in the team's upset of St. Thomas. Aamodt finished the year with 20 shots on net and 10 blocked shots.

This marks the second straight 7th Player award for Cavanaugh, a junior forward. She played in five games this season, and notched the first point of her collegiate career on Jan. 10 when she recorded an assist against Finlandia.

CSB finished 2019-20 with an 11-12-1 overall record, and tied for seventh in the MIAC with a 6-12 mark. Eleven wins is the most for the program since 2001-02.
