MOORHEAD, Minn. — Behind a two-goal night from junior
Shae Stinnett (North Oaks, Minn.), the (RV) College of Saint Benedict hockey team skated to a 3-1 MIAC victory over Concordia College Friday at the Moorhead Sports Center.
Stinnett struck in both the first and third periods to give the Bennies control, and sophomore
Camryn Hargreaves (Minnetrista, Minn.) sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final seconds. The victory lifted Saint Benedict to 13-7-4 overall and 8-6-3 in conference play, earning its eighth MIAC win and moving into a tie for third place with Gustavus Adolphus College. The two teams are even at 29 points after the Gusties fell to Hamline University on Friday, setting up a pivotal final day of regular-season action as playoff positioning remains unsettled.
The 13th win of the season marks just the third time in program history the Bennies have reached that total (1999-00, 2022-23), while their eight league victories rank fifth-best all-time.
Stinnett opened the scoring at 6:15 of the first period, finishing a play assisted by junior
Ella Tuccitto (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) to give CSB a 1-0 edge. After Concordia evened the score, Stinnett delivered again at 6:32 of the third period, netting her sixth of the season on an even-strength tally set up by first-year
Avery Kasick (Andover, Minn.).
The Cobbers answered on a power play at 7:49 of the third, but St. Ben's defense held firm. With just 15 seconds remaining, Hargreaves found the empty net to put the game away.
In goal, first-year
Lexi Badali (St. John, Ind.) turned aside 28 shots to improve to 9-6-3 on the season. Saint Benedict held a slight 32-29 advantage in shots, including a 13-9 edge in the opening period, while the teams split faceoffs 28-28. Senior
Chloe Lewis (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) paced the Bennies at the dot, winning 16 of 26 draws.
The two teams close out the regular season Saturday evening at Ritsche Arena, with postseason seeding still to be decided on the ice.
