ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Junior forward
Shae Stinnett of the (RV) College of Saint Benedict hockey team has been selected as The House/St. Cloud Orthopedics CSB Athlete of the Week after scoring four goals in two weekend victories, propelling the Bennies to the No. 3 seed in the upcoming MIAC Playoffs.
Earlier Monday (Feb. 23), Stinnett also earned her first career MIAC Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honor.
The North Oaks, Minn., native tallied four goals in two games as Saint Benedict improved to 14-7-3 overall and secured a semifinal bye in the conference tournament. The Bennies finished 9-6-3 in MIAC play and claimed the No. 3 seed by virtue of a tiebreaker over Gustavus. CSB will take on second-seeded and No. 7-ranked Hamline University at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at TRIA Rink.
On Friday night, Stinnett scored the first two goals in a 3-1 victory at the Moorhead Sports Center. She followed with another standout performance Saturday, netting both the game-tying goal and the game-winner — the latter coming with just 43 seconds remaining — to lift the Bennies to a 3-2 comeback win.
For the season, Stinnett has eight goals and seven assists for 15 points while firing 71 shots. Her four game-winning goals tie the program's single-season record, matching marks set by Kelly Wegwerth (2000-01), Paul Vogt (1999-00), Mollie Wise (2019-20), Susan Engel (2003-04),
Ava Stinnett (2022-23) and
Aurora Opsahl (2023-24).
In 75 career appearances, Stinnett has recorded 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points on 208 shots, along with six game-winning goals. That total is tied for seventh all-time in program history with Wegwerth (1998-02), Kate Rollwagner (1998-02) and Wise (2016-20).
