After the Bennies boarded the cruise ship there was a fun night ahead with all of the amenities the ship had to offer, for many this was their first experience on a ship and a hoot it was!
CSB Hockey's ferry to Finland
'Twas the day of New Year's Eve and we watched the sunrise as we reached the port in Helsinki Finland! We were greeted by the scent of our hockey gear in the room we had left them in for the night and off we were to meet our new tour guide for a sightseeing tour around our new temporary home, the Grand Marina Hotel.
We were able to shake off our sea legs and walk around a market where most of us downed a cup of joe, following our fabulous cruise from Stockholm to Helsinki. We visited the famous Rock Lutheran church, made entirely of rock and a vibrant copper ceiling. The tour guide mentioned that this was one of the most visited places in Helsinki.
We then moved to a different part of the city where we had some time to munch on some lunch and explore. The city was full of lights and Christmas markets, that we'll be able to see later in the week and before our New Year's Eve celebration at the Senate Square where there will be live music and fireworks!
For those who didn't do so hot on the cruise (aka the Dramamine didn't do the trick) spent most of the free time we had in the afternoon/evening napping off the motion sickness and lack of sleep! We will see what this evening brings as the Bennies reign in the new year in Helsinki! Aside from a few bumps in the road, the Saint Benedict hockey gals are thoroughly enjoying their time in Europe!
