SARTELL, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict golf team sits in fourth place after day one of the two-day CSB Fall Invite Saturday, Sept. 5. at the par 72 5,812-yard Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. The Bennies shot a 26-over 314 in the first round, sitting 12 strokes off the lead. 

 

Sophomore transfer Layla Mathews (Becker, Minn./Becker) fired a five-over 77, the best 18-hole round score in her career, to lead the Bennies in a tie for seventh. Juniors Sophia Anderson (Albany, Minn./Albany) and Kenna Henriksen (Olivia, Minn./BOLD) followed with matching six-over 78s to share a tie of 12th. The 78 matches Henrikson's personal-best round. First-year Hallie Johnson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) also finished within the top-20, as her nine-over 81 has her tied for 18th. 

 

Macalester College sits atop the leaderboard after firing a 14-over 302. University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire sits second behind an 18-over 306, followed closely by St. Olaf College with a 19-over 307. Gustavus Adolphus College rounds out the top-five behind a 37-over 325. 

 

The Bennies are back in action Sunday morning, Sept. 6, for the final round of the CSB Invite. The shotgun start is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
