ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- With three goals in two key wins, senior forward
Addison Stephani was the driving force behind the College of Saint Benedict soccer team's continued rise—and her efforts earned her The House/St. Cloud Orthopedics CSB Athlete of the Week honor.
Stephani's standout performances helped St. Ben's extend their win streak to four and improve to 5-5 overall, while remaining perfect in MIAC play at 3-0. That record puts CSB in a tie for first place in the conference with St. Catherine, both sitting at nine points.
The weekend began with a dominant 4-0 win over St. Scholastica on Sept. 24, where Stephani, a nursing major from Blaine, Minn., struck twice in the second half. After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, she sparked the offense just 49 seconds into the second half, finishing off a pass from first-year
Abby Paloranta to notch her fifth goal of the season. She wasn't done—Stephani capped the scoring in the 89th minute, converting an assist from
Avery Soli to seal the shutout.
Three days later, in a tough road matchup against Gustavus Adolphus on Sept. 27, sbe again stepped up in the clutch. With just 25 seconds left in regulation and CSB clinging to a narrow lead, she delivered the dagger—a low shot at the 89:35 mark that slipped past the keeper and secured a 2-0 win. The goal was her sixth of the season—leading the team and placing her fourth in the MIAC. She now has 10 career goals.
Up next, Stephani and the Bennies return home for two more MIAC matchups: Augsburg on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 4 p.m., and St. Olaf on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3:30 p.m. Both games will be played on the CSB Turf Field.
