COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – LACROSSE, Wis. – The College of Saint Benedict track and field team had a number of athletes compete at NCAA Qualifiers on May 13-14.
At the CSB/SJU Heptathlon competition on May 13-14 at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville, CSB had two student-athletes finish in the top seven, including senior
Justus Floren, fifth; and sophomore
Emily Koch, seventh.
Floren was fifth with 4,166 points while Koch had a career-best total of 3,432 points, which is 17
th in program history.
At the competition, Floren recorded a personal-best of 11.36m – 37-03 in the shot put to win that competition and earn 619 points. In addition, she was second in the javelin at 37.80m – 121-00 for 625 points; fourth in the 200-meters at 26.83 for 726 points; fifth in the long jump at 5.05m – 16-07 for 573 points; fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.59 for 765 points; fifth in the high jump at 1.47m – 4-09.75; and seventh in the 800-meters at 3:10.93 for 270 points.
Koch was seventh with her career best 3,432 points, which also included two-career bests among the seven events of the heptathlon. Her career-bests included the long jump in which she finished seventh by going 4.45m – 14-07.25 for 416 points; and was sixth in the shot put at 8.40m – 27-06.75 for 425 points. In addition, she was fifth in the javelin, 31.00m – 101-08 for 496 points; fifth in the 800-meters at 2:38.19, 594 points; sixth in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.91 for 498 points; seventh in the 200 meters at 29.15 for 543 points and seventh in the high jump at 1.35m – 4-05.00.
At the UW-LaCrosse Qualifier at Veterans Memorial Stadium, CSB had a number of performers compete, including MIAC pole vault champion
Jaylyn Ahlberg who had a vault of 3.54m – 11-7 ¼.
Senior
Kalli Smith won the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she had a time of 11:45.60.
Sophomore
Taylor Radaich placed third on the 800-meter, clocking a career-best mark of 2:18.30, which places her eighth all-time in program history.
In the javelin, senior
Justus Floren was sixth with a throw of 37.53m - 123-1 while senior
Catherine Ganley finished ninth at 33.97m - 111-5.
In the shot put, first-year
Allison Banse was eighth at 12.42m – 40-09, a personal-best which ranks tied for third in program history (Haley Anderson, 2018, 12.42m).
Banse also had a throw of 35.95m – 117-11 in the discus. Sophomore
Christian Smith also had a discus toss of 35.95m – 117-11 and a throw of 39.80m – 130-07 in the hammer throw.
