Justus Floren tied school record in 60-meter hurdles and places 2nd in pentathlon at Wartburg Qualifier

Ahlberg and Farquharson compete at the UW-LaCrosse Qualifier

WAVERLY, IOWA – Senior Justus Floren of the College of Saint Benedict track and field team tied the indoor school record in the 60-meter hurdles and finished second in the the pentathlon at the Wartburg College Qualifier held on Friday afternoon (March 7). On March 8, MIAC champions Sabriya Farquharson (triple jump) and Jaylyn Ahlberg (pole vault) competed at the UW-LaCrosse Qualifier.

Floren, who was second in the pentathlon at the MIAC championships on Feb. 27 with 3,281 points, had a total of 3,234 points at this competition. She finished just 36 points from Grace Braden (3,270) of Wartburg.

At the MIAC championship pentathlon, Floren nearly set a school record in the long jump 5.52 meters - 18.01 that was second all-time at CSB. Today, she had another special performance but this time she tied the school record of Mandy Witschen (2014) in the 60-meter hurdles by clocking 9.12.

Floren of Sauk Rapids, Minn. (Sauk Rapids Central) had another outstanding performance in the pentathlon with CSB's seventh performance of 3,000 points or better since 2017. Today, Floren totaled 3,234 with the record-tying effort in the 60-meter hurdles as she was second and earned 885 points. She won the long jump at 5.29 meters – 17-04.25 and received 640 points. In addition, Floren placed third in the shot put to earn 569 points with a throw of 10.60 meters – 34-09.50. She was fifth in the high jump at 1.45 meters - 4-09.00 for 566 points. Then, she took fourth in the 800 meters with a clocking of 2:39.88 for 574 points.

Farquharson, who won her second career MIAC title by winning the triple jump at the MIAC Championship last weekend, finished seventh (11.14 meters - 36-04.25)  in the triple jump at the UW-LaCrosse Qualifier. She was also 11th (5.11 meters - 16-09.25) in the long jump. Ahlberg, who won her third straight MIAC title in the pole vault at the conference championship last weekend, placed 10th (3.50 meters -- 11-05.75) in the vault at the UW-LaCrosse Qualifier.
