CSB Soccer set to host UW-Oshkosh and Central on Sept. 7-8 at home

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) soccer team, currently 1-1-0, will continue its four-game home stand by hosting UW-Oshkosh and Central College at the CSB Outdoor Athletic Complex on September 7-8.

CSB will face UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, September 7, at 2:00 p.m. This will be CSB's third nonconference match against a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) team.

The Bennies have a 1-1 record against WIAC opponents so far this season, with a 2-0 loss to UW-Eau Claire and a 3-2 victory over UW-Stevens Point, highlighted by Avery Soli's two goals and an additional goal by Alli Voss.

On Sunday, September 8, CSB will play Central College at 3:30 p.m. Central College is currently undefeated with a 3-0 record.

CSB, which has achieved 27 winning seasons since 1984, finished tied for third in the MIAC with a record of 6-3-2 and a 9-6-3 overall mark in 2023. The team has consistently performed well in recent seasons, finishing in the top four of the MIAC in each of the past four years, including second place in 2022 with a record of 12-5-2 and an 8-2-1 MIAC mark, and second place in 2021 with an 11-4-3 overall record and an 8-1-2 MIAC mark.

  • CSB vs. UW-Oshkosh: In their most recent encounter, CSB defeated UW-Oshkosh 3-2 on September 5, 2016, in Oshkosh, Wis. CSB has an impressive 11-1-1 all-time record against UW-Oshkosh, including a 7-0-1 home record. The Bennies have won eight of the last ten matchups, with their first-ever meeting resulting in a 4-0 win on October 11, 1987.
  • CSB vs. Central College: The two teams have met twice before, with CSB holding a 1-0-1 record. Their last match ended in a 0-0 tie (after two overtimes) on September 19, 2021, in Pella, Iowa. CSB's only win against Central was a 4-0 victory on September 1, 2001, also in Pella.

  • UW-Oshkosh, led by head coach Erin Coppernoll, who has a 188-134-40 record and has guided the team to the NCAA DIII Tournament five times, is averaging 1.0 goals per game while allowing 2.0 goals per game. The Titans have taken an average of 14.5 shots per game, with a .414 percentage of shots on goal.
Central College Notes:
  • Central College, under the guidance of head coach Mike Kobylinski, who has been with the team since 2011 and is a three-time league coach of the year, is currently 3-0. Kobylinski is the program's all-time wins leader with a 132-75-26 record. The Dutch have a goals-against average of 0.33 and have scored an average of 2.00 goals per game. They have recorded a .433 percentage for shots on goal from 30 attempts. Central has averaged 10 shots per game, with four assists, 12 saves, and seven corner kicks. Grace Coates and Alli Seegers have each scored two goals so far, this season.
