ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Junior Catherine Jance of the College of Saint Benedict golf team has been named the St. Cloud Orthopedics/CSB Athlete of the Week after delivering a career-best performance at the St. Kate's Fall Invite.

Jance posted a two-round total of six-over-par 150 (75-75), finishing seventh overall and leading CSB to a sixth-place team finish. The event concluded on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Eagle Valley Golf Course.

This marks the third consecutive career milestone achieved by a CSB golfer this season. Jance recorded the team's best two-round score of the season. On Saturday at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn., she shot a three-over-par 75, a personal best for a single round. She matched this score on Sunday at Eagle Valley, making three birdies, including two in the final four holes, to reach her career-best two-round total.

Jance's total score of 150 places her fourth on CSB's all-time list for 36 holes, tied with Natalie Amundson (2019) and Emily Renner (2023). Her rounds of 75 are tied for the eighth-best single-round score in school history.

CSB head coach Daryl Schomer was pleased with the effort and performance of his junior golfer.

"I'm happy to see Catherine's hard work pay off," Schomer said. "She's a talented player but sometimes puts too much pressure on herself. This weekend should be a big confidence boost."

The St. Benedict golf team continues to show improvement, posting a two-round total of 54-over-par 630 (312-318), earning sixth place. After recording a season-low score of 312 on Saturday in Edina, the Bennies followed up with a 318 on Sunday. Their 630 total was six shots better than their previous season-best of 636, achieved just last week at the D3 Central Region Preview. Led by Jance, CSB's 312 in the first round was their best 18-hole score since shooting 308 in the third round of the 2021 MIAC Golf Championships. J

Jance's seventh-place finish was her best individual performance and her second top-10 finish at CSB.

St. Catherine, led by individual medalist Kyra Venne with a three-under-par 141 (69-72), won the team title with a two-round score of two-over-par 578 (294-284). CSB finished just four shots behind Bethel and Macalester, who tied for fourth at 626.

Next up, the Bennies will compete at the Gustie D3 Classic on Sept. 21-22 at Emerald Greens Golf Course in Hastings, Minn.
