EDINA, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict golf team made a significant move up the leaderboard on day two of the MIAC Championships, climbing into third place with a strong round on Saturday, Oct. 4. Playing at Braemar Golf Course, the Bennies improved their team score by 20 strokes from Friday, posting a 309 for a two-day total of 638 (329-309).
Senior leaders
Catherine Jance and
Maggie Roth, along with junior
Taylar Nadler, paced CSB with impressive rounds. Jance shot a 76 on Saturday—three strokes better than her opening round 79—to bring her two-day total to 155, moving her up two spots on the individual leaderboard to eighth. Nadler fired a career-best-tying 75 in round two to jump five spots into a tie for ninth. Combined with her first-round 82, she sits at 157.
Roth also improved in round two, carding a 77 after opening with an 82. Her 159 total puts her in 12th place overall.
Sophomores
Kenna Henriksen and
Sophia Anderson made gains on day two as well. Anderson shaved seven strokes off her opening round, following an 88 with a second-round 81 to climb four spots and is tied for 29th at 169. Henriksen improved by one stroke with rounds of 86 and 85, placing her 33rd with a 171 total.
Carleton College continues to lead the team standings, firing rounds of 292 and 298 for a two-day total of 590. Macalester remains in second at 610 (308-302), followed by Saint Benedict in third at 638.
Individually, Carleton's Carter Sichol holds a commanding seven-shot lead after back-to-back rounds of 69 for a 138 total. Macalester's Bailey Lengfelder and Carleton's Kate Yi are tied for second at 145, each recording rounds of 71 and 74.
The final round of the championships on Monday (Oct. 6) starts with tee times at 9 a.m.
