
Daryl Schomer, who served as head coach for 15 years, will serve as the swing coach for the CSB Golf Team.
Schomer transitioned away from the head coaching position after 15 successful seasons leading the program. During his tenure, CSB established itself as a consistent contender in the MIAC, finishing among the conference’s top five teams in 13 seasons. The Bennies earned back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2017-18 and 2018-19, while 21 student-athletes garnered All-MIAC First Team honors. The program also produced a WGCA All-Region selection in 2023-24.
Under Schomer’s leadership, the Bennies set several program scoring records, including the school’s 54-hole mark at the 2017 MIAC Championships, the 36-hole record of 611 in 2025, and the program’s 18-hole record during the 2025-26 season. One of the team’s standout performances came at the St. Kate’s Invitational, where CSB posted a 36-hole total of 611 to break the previous school record by 12 strokes.
The program also excelled academically under Schomer’s guidance. The 2024-25 team earned WGCA All-Scholar Team honors with a 3.769 team GPA, ranking 13th nationally among NCAA Division III programs. Six golfers were named WGCA All-American Scholars, while seven earned Academic All-MIAC recognition.
Also under Schomer’s watch, Emily Renner was a four-time All-MIAC honoree and also earned WGCA All-Region honors in 2023-24.
Schomer has also had a part in all three team records, as the 2019-20 squad set the 18-hole record, the 36-hole score was set in 2018 and the 54-hole team score was set at the 2017 MIAC Championships. With extraordinary effort in the classroom, Schomer's CSB team earned 2024-25 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Scholar Team honors. The 11-member Bennies squad was ranked 13
th in NCAA DIII with a 3.769 GPA. In total 25 programs, including four from the MIAC, were recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom. Six member of the CSB golf team were named WGCA All-American Scholars.
He served as an assistant coach for CSB in 2010-11. Prior to coming to CSB, he was the head boys’ golf coach at St. Cloud Tech High School from 2002-11.
A former PGA professional, Schomer has more than 25 years of experience teaching and coaching all levels of golfers from juniors to elite amateurs. Â In an effort to expand his knowledge of the game Schomer has worked with some of the top instructors in the country as well as several former PGA/LPGA tour players.
In addition to his passion for coaching, Schomer also continues to compete at the state and national level.  He has qualified for and competed in over 35 of Minnesota’s major championships with several high finishes.  Schomer has also represented Minnesota in multiple team championships.
Along with his work at Saint Benedict, Schomer is in his 22nd year as a Real Estate professional and currently works for Coldwell Banker Realty of St. Cloud, Minn. He attended The Golf Academy of the South in Orlando, Fla., from 1993-95 and graduated from Pierz High School in Pierz, Minn.
Schomer and his wife live in St. Cloud with their son.
