SAINT PETER, Minn. --- The College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team, led by
Ella Kowalczyk,
Claire Canfield,
Megan Bartels, and
Rachel Schlueter, had another impressive swim and dive performance by placing third among six teams at the Gustavus Goblisch Invite on Saturday (Nov. 23).
In diving, sophomore
Ella Kowalczyk was second on the one-meter board at 175.75 points and took fourth on the three-meter board with 172.80 points. On the three-meter board CSB had three of the top six finishers and two of the top four on the one-meter board.
Sophomore
Claire Canfield had a pair of top three finishes, including second in the 400-IM in 4:58.90, which was a season best. She then placed third in the 200 IM in a season-best 2:20.79. Junior
Rachel Schlueter, who was a member of two relays that finished fourth, was third in the 100-backstroke in 1:01.22 and also placed fifth in the 100-butterfly in a season-best 1:04.57. Aside from solid work on relays, junior
Megan Bartels had a pair of strong efforts in breaststroke event as she was third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.39. She also was third in the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.70. She also placed seventh in the 200 IM in 2:27.10.
The Bennies placed fourth in the 200-medley relay in 1:56.10 with a squad of Canfield, Bartels, Schlueter and senior
Liz Hansen. CSB was also fourth in the 400 freestyle in 3:52.61 with a squad of
Lauren Sitzman, Hansen, Schlueter and
Jayda Alholm.
In the 200-freestyle relay, CSB took seventh with a clocking of 1:47.34. The squad included first-year
Ava Niksich, first-year
Grace Morphew, Hansen and Schlueter.
Anna Boomgaarden was fifth in 2:36.32,
Autumn Larson, sixth, 2:38.11 and Mille Pratt, seventh in 2:44.05 in the 200 butterfly.
Alivia Kortuem placed sixth in the 1,650 freestyle with a clocking 20:32.66. Aside from her work on the relays, Hansen was sixth in the 100 freestyle in 58.51. Also for CSB,
Lauren Sitzman was seventh in the 200 backstroke in 2:22.46.
Next for CSB Swim and Dive will be competing at the Rochester Invite on Dec. 5-7.
