MOORHEAD, Minn. -- With goals from

Ava Stinnett and
Emma Rooks, the College of Saint Benedict Hockey Team (2-3, 1-0 MIAC) opened play in the MIAC with a hard fought 3-2 win over Concordia College (3-1, 0-1 MIAC) on Friday night.
The victory was the second straight road and overall win for the Bennies, which now sit 2-3 overall and 1-0 in MIAC play. CSB and Concordia College will play again on Saturday at 7 pm at the Ritsche Arena in St. Cloud, Minn., as part of a road and home series.
CSB, which is now 5-5-1 in the last 11 matches with the Cobbers, overcame a 1-0 deficit to pick up the win. CSP scored twice in the second period and once in the third to grab a 3-1 lead and held off the Cobbers for the league win.
In the opening period, Concordia College's Morgan Sauvageau scored a goal at the 8:15 mark for a 1-0 lead. Jerica Friese and Paige Hanson assisted her on the scoring play.
Down 1-0, the Bennies produced three straight goals, including two in the second period. At 8:45 of the second period, Brown, a junior forward, scored her first goal of the season and sixth of her career to tie the match at 1-1. Junior

Aurora Opsahl assisted on the score. Roughly 10 minutes later at 17:23, sophomore
Ava Stinnett had her first goal of the season for a 2-1 lead. Brown and Opsahl assisted on the go-ahead goal, which was Stinnett's sixth career score.
In the third period, CSB tallied a third straight score for a 3-1 lead as sophomore
Emma Rooks connected from 15 feet out at 8:47 of the period. On the goal, Opsahl had her third assist of the night with Stinnett also credited with an assist. However, the Cobbers responded with a power play goal at 10:19 as Friese scored off assists from Sauvageau and Kaylie Klemetsrud.

Ally Frantzick moved to 2-2-0 on the season with another solid effort in the goal. She stopped 17 of 19 shots to earn her second win of the year and ninth of her career. Frantsick faced six shots in the first period and six and seven, respectively, in the final two periods. Becca Macklin of Concordia-Moorhead had 31 saves on 34 shots.
Brown had a solid night for CSB with seven shots, including a goal and assist. Opsahl had six shots and had a career-first with three assists. Stinnett had three shots and had a goal and assist.
CSB again outshot its opponent with a 34-to-19 margin. In the first period, it was a10-6 margin following by 13-6 in the second period and 11-to-7 in the third period. So far this season, CSB has a 197-to-111 shots advantage in outshooting every opponent.
