Final Team Scores
ROCHESTER, Minn. – After starting the Rochester Invite with a school record Friday night,
Ana Birklid wrapped up the three-day meet with a second school record Sunday evening.
Birklid set the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team's 100 IM record by two seconds Sunday night in the finals. Both she and
Jessica Milstroh bested the previous record – which Birklid set earlier this year – in the prelims Sunday morning, and the duo both bettered their prelims times in the finals with Birklid finishing in 1:00.80. She finished eighth in the event and Milstroh took 10
th in 1:01.92, also a two-second personal best.
Sophomore
Emi Wagner and first year
Grace Ritten also moved into the top 10 in program history in the event Sunday night. Wagner moved into fourth in program history after finishing in 1:04.18 in the prelims, and she took 19
th in the finals in 1:04.48. Ritten took 20
th in 1:06.64, the 10
th-best time in program history.
Birklid also took eighth in the 200 backstroke in a season-best time of 2:08.78.
Lindsay Smutka finished 13
th in 2:14.04, and
Madison Slavik took 20
th in 2:16.94.
Wagner and
Laura Jennings just missed moving into the top 10 in program history in their respective events Sunday. Jennings took 11
th in the 200 fly in 2:18.86, and Wagner finished 12
th in the 100 free in 54.91 seconds. Her prelim time of 54.38 seconds put her just outside the top 10. Milstroh, Smutka, Wagner and Birklid teamed up to finish eighth in the 400 free relay in 3:38.61, just shy of making the top 10.
Molly Johanson finished 20
th in the 1,650 free in 19:02.46 – a career-best time in her first time competing in the event this season – and
Maria Beck took 22
nd in the 200 breaststroke in 2:44.95. Her prelim time of 2:42.04 marked a career-best time.
The third day of the Rochester Invite marked the last competition of 2021 for the Bennie swim and dive team. The team heads to Hawaii for its annual training trip Dec. 29 through Jan. 7, and returns to action at home Saturday, Jan. 8, for the Saint John's Invite.
