ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team heads to Duluth for the team's last road game of the regular season to take on St. Scholastica at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The Bennies look to keep their unbeaten streak going – and hold onto a top-two spot in the conference - in the final games before the MIAC playoffs begin.
About the Saints
St. Scholastica is 3-9-4 overall, 3-4-2 in the MIAC and is coming off a 1-1, double overtime tie with Carleton on Saturday. Their three conference wins come over Concordia, Bethel, and St. Olaf. Morgan Friday leads the Saints in goals with seven on the season and goalkeeper Brianna Jorgenson has a 1.51 goals-against average and 85 saves.
Last Meeting
The Bennies and the Saints have only met on the field twice before St. Scholastica officially joined the MIAC this year. The last meeting between these two teams was back in 2005 where CSB claimed a 1-0 victory at home in St. Joe.
The Storyline
A lone goal from Clara Noack was enough to get a win for the Bennies over Macalester on Saturday, giving them their ninth shutout of the season and continuing their unbeaten streak. Saint Mary's loss to Hamline Saturday also bumped CSB into second place in the MIAC standings and officially secured them a spot in the MIAC Playoffs. With two games left, the Bennies are now playing to determine their final spot going into playoffs.
Who to Watch
Roxy Veldman continues to lead CSB in goals with seven on the season, and Sydney Burns leads the team in assists with four. Ella Young, Olivia Miller, and Abby Willenbring continue to lead in minutes on the back line, each with more than 1,000 minutes played this season, keeping the defense strong for the Bennies. Keepers
Annie Waters and Paige Kahlmeyer both remain in the top six in the MIAC in goals-against average and save percentage.
