2018-19 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award Winners

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team made it back to the MIAC Tournament for the second straight season in 2018 to cap off a successful season on the field. This week, Saint Benedict was honored for the work it did all year in the classroom.

CSB was one of 992 collegiate soccer teams – 345 men's programs and 647 women's programs – to earn the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 school year.

This marks the team's 10th straight academic honor and 14th since the inception of the award in 2004-05. The team has earned the honor in each of head coach Steve Kimble's 10 seasons. Saint Benedict finished the 2018-18 academic year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.69 – its best since at least 2007-08.

CSB is one of eight women's teams from the MIAC honored with team academic honors last season, and it finished with the highest GPA amongst those eight teams. Augsburg, Bethel, Carleton, Saint Mary's, St. Kate's, St. Olaf and St. Thomas were all recognized. St. Kate's finished right behind CSB with a 3.67 GPA and Carleton had a 3.59.

Saint Benedict is back in action Saturday, Oct. 5, when it heads to Winona to take on Saint Mary's in a 3:30 p.m. MIAC contest.
