About The Royals:

After finishing ninth last year, Bethel was picked to finish second-to-last in the MIAC this year. They went winless in their first nine games, before picking up a victory against Macalester last week. Their struggles have come predominantly on the offensive side of the ball, where they rank last in the MIAC in goals scored per game (0.8).

Last Year:

Bethel has undoubtedly not forgot about last year's Blazer-Royal matchup. In that game the Blazers routed the Royals 7-0. Then-sophomore forwards Aly Hoffman and Gracie Vaughan combined for four goals and one assist (nine points) in that game alone. The Blazers outshot the Royals 22-9 and limited them to just three shots on goal.

The Storyline:

How do the Blazers respond to their first MIAC loss of the year? Bethel is a team that the Blazers should beat on paper and will need to beat if they are to keep pace with the conference's leaders. Key to victory for the Blazers will be turning defense into offense. The Blazers have the conference's leading defense, allowing just 0.33 goals per game. The Royals have the conference's least potent offense, having scored just eight goals this season (0.8 goals per game).

Last Time Out:

Last Sunday the Blazers defeated the Titans of Wisconsin-Oshkosh by a 1-0 margin. The lone goal of the game was scored by Renier off a pass from Vaughan in the game's 50th minute. Keepers Megan Favorite and Heather Kaluzniak combined to make nine saves and record the Blazers' ninth clean sheet of the year.
