Wednesday (Sept. 26), the Saint Benedict soccer team will take a road trip to Minneapolis, where they will take on the Augsburg Auggies. After dropping a game to Gustavus on Saturday the Blazers will look to return to the top form they exhibited two weeks ago when they defeated conference rivals Macalester and Carleton in back-to-back matches. The Blazers are currently tied for second in the MIAC with five other teams, so a win would be big step in the right direction as they chase another conference championship.

Last time out:
On Saturday the Blazers dropped a nail-biting game to Gustavus Adolphus by a score of 2-1. The Blazers went down 2-0 early in the game on two first-half goals by senior forward Maggie Lane before Hoffman answered with a goal of her own. They suppressed the Gustie attack the rest of the way but were not able to find an equalizing goal, despite outshooting the Gusties 11-2 in the second half. The loss slid the Blazers three spots to eighth in the NCAA North Region poll this week.
About the Auggies:
In head coach Mike Navarre's 14th season as head coach he led the Auggies to a hot start, winning five straight to begin the year. They were ranked as high as seventh before they dropped three straight matches, including a 5-0 drubbing by Macalester. They put an end to that streak Monday, when they defeated the University of Wisconsin-River Falls 1-0 on Clark's fifth goal of the season.
The Matchup:
It should be a challenging match for both goalkeepers. The Auggies pose one of the most high powered offenses the Blazer defenders will have faced so far this season. Led by Clark and Nelson, the Auggies lead the conference in assists (16) and are second in goals (18) and goals per game (2.2). On the other side of the ball Augsburg's defense will undoubtedly have their hands full with the Blazers offensive attack led by Bouchard and Hoffman. Hoffman will be looking to extend her three-game goal streak to four with a goal in this match.
