Last Time Out:
On Saturday the Blazers traveled to Winona, Minn. and took full advantage of an opportunity to get their offense back on track against the woeful Cardinals of Saint Mary's. Goals scored by First-year Peggy Renier, Lenz, Kosch, and two by Bouchard along with great play on the defensive side of the ball allowed the Blazers to pocket a decisive three points in the standings while gaining momentum and confidence heading into today's game, the most important match they have played so far this year.

About the Pipers:
One of three MIAC teams to be in double-digits for games won, the Pipers are having arguably the best year in school history. Winners of their first four, they have been one of the most consistent teams in the MIAC this year. They went undefeated in their non-conference schedule and have not dropped back-to-back games this season. The key to this consistency has been a defense that has allowed opposing teams to score more than one goal only three times.

What's on the Line:
Historically this could be considered a David vs. Goliath matchup. Never in their 21-year history have the Pipers won the MIAC or even made the postseason tournament, while the Blazers come in as reigning conference regular season and postseason champs with high hopes of returning to the promised land. Three points behind the fourth place Blazers, a win today would allow the Pipers to control their own destiny heading into the final match of the year. A win for the Blazers and a St. Olaf loss would mean the Blazers would clinch a MIAC playoff berth. A loss would put them in a position where they need to beat No. 19 Concordia this Saturday and get a bunch of other help from around the league in order to make the tournament. Needless to say, this game is all but mathematically a must-win.

Key to the Game:
The key to the game for the Blazers will be to come out of the gates energetic, move the ball up to their electrifying forwards, and get on the board early. They have posted a 5-0-2 record this year when they have been the first team to score. Equally important is the fact that Hamline has an 0-3 record and been outscored 0-6 when they concede the first goal.  On the flip side when the Pipers are the first team to score they are nearly unbeatable, posting an 11-1-1 record and outscoring their opponents by a 29-8 margin.
