FAIRBAULT, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict golf team moved up two spots in the final round of the Carleton Invite to finish fifth out of seven teams Sunday, Sept. 27. The Bennies shot a 31-over 319 on the par 72, 5,675-yard Fairbault Golf Club.
Junior Kenna Henriksen (Olivia, Minn./BOLD) and sophomore Layla Mathews (Becker, Minn./Becker) fired six-over 78s to post the best round of the day for CSB, as both significantly moved up the leaderboard. Henriksen jumped 12 spots to finish tied for 19th with a 36-hole score of 16-over 160, while Mathews moved up 14 spots to crack the top-25. The Becker, Minn. native finished the weekend with a 17-over 161 across 36 holes.
First-year Hallie Johnson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing) was Saint Benedict's best finisher for the week, as she finished tied for 17th behind a 13-over 157. Johnon shot a nine-over 81 today following a 76 in the opening round of the tournament.
Saint Ben's will turn its attention to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships, which are set to take place Friday-Sunday, Oct. 2-4 at Braemar Golf Course.
